Please expect to wait up to two months after our deadline for a publication decision. Occasionally with e-mail, there are technical difficulties. We cannot be responsible for delay or loss of submissions. To check on the status of your submission, please send a message to editor.sblaam@gmail.com.
PLEASE READ AND CAREFULLY FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES BELOW
Please limit your electronic submission to 12 images, (unless that issue’s guidelines ask for more). We accept simultaneous submissions, but please inform us promptly and withdraw your work if it is accepted elsewhere. We do not accept revised versions of already submitted work.
Dual Literary and Photography/Art submissions (e.g., poetry with artwork) will only be considered for publication if they can be published separately as well as paired together.
1. IMAGE FILE SPECIFICATIONS:
- Only .jpg or .jpeg file types will be accepted.
- approximately 800 pixels FOR the LONGEST EDGE –this would be the width in a horizontal picture or height in a vertical picture.
- Please try to limit file sizes to under 3Mb. Google Optimizing Images for the Web (this will open in a new window.)
- No borders or watermarks.
- Please ask if you’re unsure what specifications would be acceptable.
- Higher resolution images may be requested for those images selected for publication.
2. FILE NAMING:
- Please name the files with the title of the work.
3. REQUIRED INFORMATION:
- Please include the following information as text in your email and not as an attached document.
- Your Name
- Home address and phone number (optional)
- Your website address (optional)
4. SEND VIA EMAIL:
- The subject line of your email should indicate which issue you are submitting for, for example: Photography Submission for Issue #3 Winter/Fall 2015
- Please ATTACH the files, not embed them. Zip files are acceptable.
- We do not accept submissions via Google Docs or any other such method, only as email attachments.

By submitting photos for publication in the Smoky Blue Literary and Arts Magazine Magazine you are stipulating to us that you own copyright to these photographs or have permission from the copyright holder to submit these photographs. You are granting the Smoky Blue Literary and Arts Magazine Magazine a non-exclusive license to use the photograph in its submitted form, subject to re-sizing to fit the magazine format, for publication on the Smoky Blue Literary and Arts Magazine website for as long as the website exists. Please note that back issues of the Smoky Blue Literary and Arts Magazine may remain available in the archive for as long as the website exists.
